Pedagógovia, architekti, výtvarníci a iní vytvorili skupinu aktívnej občianskej spoločnosti, s iniciatívou zachrániť industriálny areál textilnej fabriky Merina v meste Trenčín. Výstava Premeny Meriny bola našou výtvarnou reakciou, dvojročným intenzívnym aktivizmom a snahou zaznamenať developerské aktivity v tomto areáli a jeho meniacu sa kolektívnu pamäť. Jednotlivé diela reflektujú aktuálny stav areálu alebo dlhodobejšie mapovali jeho premenu. Výstava bola odprezentovaná v priestoroch, ktoré sa stali základom pre novú platformu – Formaat galériu, ktorá si kladie za cieľ výstavnú aj vzdelávaciu činnosť vo formáte prednášok a kurzov.
Krátka 3D animácia sa ironickým, manipulatívnym spôsobom pohráva s budovami areálu Meriny.
Z poletujúcich objektov bez pevne ukotvenej identity a kontextu sa postupne skladá súkromná
predstava namiesto kolektívnej zhody. Vákuum, ktoré táto „hra“ prezentuje, vymazáva väzbu na fyzické
objekty doby vzniku. Merina zostane iba v pamäti, rovnako virtuálnej ako prezentovaná animácia.
Educators, architects, artists and others formed a group of active civil society members with the initiative to save the industrial area of the Merina textile factory in Trenčín. The Merina Transformations (Premeny Meriny) exhibition was our artistic response, two years of intense activism and an effort to record the development activities in the area and its changing collective memory. Individual works reflect the current state of the site, mapping its transformation over a longer period of time. The exhibition was presented on the premises that have become the basis for a new platform – Formaat Gallery, which focuses at both exhibition and educational activities in the format of lectures and courses.
The short 3D animation plays with the buildings of the Merina area in an ironic, manipulative way.
From flying objects without any fixed identity and context, a private idea instead of a collective consensus gradually emerges. The vacuum presented by this “play” erases the link to the physical objects of the time of its creation. Merina will only remain in memory, as virtual as the animation presented.
